Tape 1 – The Fallen Star
March 1951. After his daughter spots a strange burst of light from the planet Mars, journalist Bertie Wells seeks answers from an eccentric local astronomer.
Tape 2 – Horsell Common
The Martian meteorite crash-lands just outside of Woking and causes a stir among the local population. Electrical power and communications are knocked out, and the authorities do their best to prevent a panic.
Tape 3 – The Heat Ray
With the common up in flames, a shell-shocked Bertie goes home for dinner.
Tape 4 – The Storm
Bertie finds a hand-crank radio and overhears a statement from the steps of Downing Street which is at odds with the situation on the ground. Civil disobedience breaks out and Bertie's tape recorder is stolen by a pair of looters - we learn that some are having a better invasion than others.
Tape 5 – The Pirbright Regiment (Parts I and II)
The Martians march on Woking. With reinforcements nowhere to be seen, an inexperienced battalion tries to halt the enemy advance. After taking heavy losses, help finally arrives from the air.
Tape 6 – The Crypt
Choked by the Martian’s chemical smoke weapon, Bertie finds himself trapped beneath the ruins of a church, with no food or water, and only a disturbed priest for company.
Tape 7 – The Work of Fifteen Days
Bertie emerges from the rubble and no longer recognises himself, or the world around him.
Tape 8 – Corynebacterium Diphtheriae
As the powers that be make plans for the evacuation of London, a last line of defence is found in the most unlikely of places.
Tape 9 – Wreckage
As the Martians succumb to bacterial infection, Bertie tries desperately to find his family.
Future Releases
Bertie made over forty hours of recordings during the 1951 incident and in the years after, describing a number of strange goings on that have until now been kept under wraps. It is my intention to release these recordings as soon as possible.
DI55
Should there be sufficient interest - I am also determined to expose the work of my former employer DI55, who have orchestrated the cover-up of anomolous phenomena in the United Kingdom without any scrutiny or consequence. I have a number of former colleagues willing to go on the record with their stories from inside the unit.
